HYDROPOINT LAUNCHES WEEKLY WEBINAR WITH LEADING EXPERTS ON HOW TO OUTSMART THE DROUGHT

Educational series shares proven smart water management solutions and best practices

April 3rd, 2015  – Petaluma, CA: HydroPoint Data Systems, an established leader in smart water management solutions and EPA WaterSense® Partner of the Year, responds to Governor Brown’s executive order mandating statewide water reductions by hosting a new webinar series addressing how municipalities and communities can comply to new laws and ongoing drought concerns with smart water management technology.

“There is so much concern and discussion after the Governor’s announcement, that it is important to provide an open forum for leading property owners and managers to discuss real world successes and challenges to outsmarting the drought and meeting compliance regulations.  I think most people would be surprised how many California organizations have already implemented smart outdoor water management technology and achieved savings far beyond the governor’s goals,” said Chris Spain, CEO of HydroPoint Data Systems. “There is no doubt that California faces a serious water shortage and for most of us, a 25% reduction seems impossible, but everyday for the last 12 years we have seen how smart outdoor water management is able to achieve even higher savings.”

“The critical component often missing in technology solution discussions is identifying best practices and how to take full advantage of the technology,” Spain explains. “We are very excited to have lined up an incredible series of speakers to share what’s worked and what’s failed and why, so everyone can quickly get up to speed and eliminate water waste.”

WeatherTRAK®, HydroPoint’s smart water solution, successfully saved California customers more than 9 billion gallons of water in just one year. In an August 2014 report published by WeatherTRAK customer, Caltrans District 12 in Southern California, stated that since the implementation of the irrigation system, they reduced water consumption by 81% from 2013, saving 53 million gallons of water in just one quarter (January to April). Unfortunately, the drought is not just a California problem. Fort Carson in Colorado outsmarted the drought in 2013 with WeatherTRAK and accomplished their required 30% summer water reductions, and estimate they save more than 50 million gallons of water annually. “Fort Carson achieved these water reductions without limiting anyone’s use of water,” said Mark Hunsicker, Directorate of Public Works Operations and Maintenance Division Chief. These smart irrigation efforts helped earn them the 2014 Secretary of the Army Award for Energy and Water Management for Water Conservation.

HydroPoint’s new webinar series titled Outsmarting the Drought, outlines how municipalities, communities and corporate properties can easily reduce their water consumption. The first webinar in the educational series will feature Tim Barr, Deputy Director of Water Resources at the Western Municipal Water District, who will share proven water conservation strategies and elaborate on the following:

  • Water Budget Rates
  • Real-Time Water Use Visibility
  • Commercial Programs
